Question 5472: I need to know how to graph
2x-7y=3
5x-4y=-6
And I also need to know how many solutions it has.
Could you please help me? thanks!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the easiest way is to set it up in slope intercept form (y=mx+b)and then plug in values for x to get a y - you then have a point to graph:
2x-7y=3
subtract 2x from both sides of the equation
-7y=-2x+3
Divide both sides by -7
y=%282x%2F7%29%2B%283%2F7%29
The slope to the graph is 2%2F7 and it crosses the y axis at (0,3/7)
by putting in 1 for x, we get another point (1,5/7) Draw a line that crosses both of these points.
Do the same to the other equation
5x-4y=-6
subtract 5x from both sides:
-4y=-5x-6
divide both sides by -4
y=%285x%2F4%29%2B%286%2F4%29
we have the point (0,6/4), get a second point by substituting 1 for x.. (1,11/4) draw a line that extends through these two points.
The solution to this system is where both lines intersect:
