Question 546850: the perimeter of a pentagon (4x +4) is three times the perimeter of a triangle (x + 3) find x. also calculate perimeters of both and a regular octagon has the same perimeter what is lenth of each side? i dont understand this. i tried 3(4x+4) an got 12x + 12 am i on theright track? You can put this solution on YOUR website! No, you are on the wrong track. Perimeter of pentagon (4x+4) is(=) 3 times(3(?)) the perimeter of a triangle(3(x+3)).
So, according to the previous analysis:
4x+4=3(x+3)
4x+4=3x+9
x=5
Perimeter of pentagon
=4(5)+4
=20+4
=24
Perimeter of triangle
=5+3
=8
If the perimeter of the octagon equals the perimeter of pentagon(P) OR triangle(T)
P=24÷8
=3
T=8÷8
=1
***Does not know the what the perimeter of the octagon equals so I do both for you***
