you have 2 straight lines...they either cross (at just one point) or never cross (are parallel) or are actually the same line, one lying on the top of the other (an infinite number of solutions).

The overwhelming case is that they cross once, giving one answer.

To graph them, pick x-values and find the corresponding y-values for both equations. Then plot them on the same axes.

I have written several Lessons on this site dealing with Straight lines, in the "Linear Equation" section. Read them and look at the examples. They will help you.
