Question 544979:
log7 24 - log7 (x+5)= log7 8
Answer by cira554(7) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! in logarithms we know that log(A/B)=logA-logB
therefore our equation log7 24-log7 (x+5)=log7 8 can be translated to;
log7 (24/x+5)=log7 8
since the logs are of the same base we are justified to say that,
24/x+5=8
when we crossmultiply we get, 24=8x+40
8x=24-40
8x=-16
our x is therefore -2
