simplify by removing the brackets
3 - 2t - 6 = t
3 - 2t - 6 - t = 0
collect like terms
-3 - 3t = 0
- 3 = 3t
divide both sides by 3
-3 / 3 = 3t / 3
-1 = t
therefore t = -1 ............ answer
