First simplify both sides of the inequality if possible:
7%28x-3%29%3E5x-14
7x%2B7%28-3%29%3E5x-14
7x-21%3E5x-14
Then get all your x's on one side of the inequality symbol and all the numbers on the other side of the inequality symbol within the rules of algebra. Whatever you do to one side of the equaltion you have to do to the other side of the equation.
-5x%2B7x-21%3E-5x%2B5x-14
2x-21%3E-14
2x-21%2B21%3E21-14
2x%3E7
2x%2F2%3E7%2F2
cross%282%29x%2Fcross%282%29%3E3.5
highlight%28x%3E3.5%29
This means that x is greater than 3.5 but not equal to 3.5. Some books use an open circle and others use a (. I'm using a ( because I don't have an open circle. You shade all the numbers bigger that 3.5 (to the right of 3.5).
