You can put this solution on YOUR website! In a problem like this, the easiest thing to do is get all your X's on one side, and all the numbers on the other.

So we have more X's on the right, so let's move the other X over there. We do this by subtracting X from the left side. And remember, whatever you do to one side, you must also do to the other (think of an old scale of justice with the pans on each side. if you add a weight to one side, the scale won't balance. you must add an equal weight to the other side too)
So we'll subtract X on both sides:



Now, move everything else off the side with the X's. Since we have a -3 on the right, we'll add 3 to remove it. So add 3 to both sides. (remember the scale)



The final piece is that we don't need the value of 3x's, we need the value of 1x. So how do you remove multiplying by 3? Divide by 3. (remember the scale)
