Question 540913: I need help with two two part questions can anyone help me Please?A sales representative tells you they have 2 floor plans available, but they have only 40 homes available. Write an equation that illustrates the situation Using M for first floor plan and N for the second floor plan. Next floor plan M sells for $175,000 and floor plan 2 sells for $200,000. She also mentions that all the available houses combined are worth $7,625.000. Write an equation that illustrates this situation using the same variables that were used in the first part.Using the elimination method to determine how many houses are available
with each floor plan? Question 2 if you have 65 home with two different floor plans using x and y ,x being for the first floor plan and y for the second write an equation that represent the situation the sales representative later indicates that there are 4 times as many homes available with the second floor plan.Using the same variable you used in the first part write an equation that illustrates this situation also use substitution system of equations to determine how many of each type of floor plan is available. Please someone help me today. My figures are not working for me and I am getting more confused with them.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A sales representative tells you they have 2 floor plans available, but they have only 40 homes available. Write an equation that illustrates the situation Using M for first floor plan and N for the second floor plan.
----
M + N = 40
----
Next floor plan M sells for $175,000 and floor plan 2 sells for $200,000. She also mentions that all the available houses combined are worth $7,625.000. Write an equation that illustrates this situation using the same variables that were used in the first part.
175,000M + 200,000N = 7,625,000
-------
Using the elimination method to determine how many houses are available
with each floor plan?
Multiply thru the 1st equation by 175,000 to get:
175000M + 175000N = 175000*40
175000M + 200000N = 7625000
------
Subtract the top equation from the bottom and solve for "N":
250000N = 625000
N = 2.5
================
Solve for "M":
175000M + 200,000*2.5 = 7,625,000
175000M = 7125000
M = 40.71
================
Question 2 if you have 65 homes with two different floor plans using x and y,
x being for the first floor plan and y for the second write an equation that represents the situation. The sales representative later indicates that there are 4 times as many homes available with the second floor plan.
----------------
Using the same variable you used in the first part write an equation that illustrates this situation also use substitution system of equations to determine how many of each type of floor plan is available.
---
x + y = 65
y = 4x
-----
Substitute for "y" and solve for "x":
x + 4x = 65
5x = 65
x = 13 (# of 1st floor plan)
---
Solve for "y":
y = 4x
y = 4*13 = 52 (# of 2nd floor plan)
