You can put this solution on YOUR website! y = x^2 - 5
y = x + 1
Since y = y, we can write it
x^2 - 5 = x + 1
x^2 - x - 5 - 1 = 0
x^2 - x - 6 = 0; our old friend, the quadratic equation!
Factors to
(x-3)(x+2) = 0
x = 3
x = -2

Find y when x=3
y = 3 + 1
y = 4
Find y when x=-2
y = -2 + 1
y = -1
