Question 5403: The cost to bake and sell x batches of delicious and nutritious Hostess Twinkies is given by this linear function: C(x)= 10x + 25
where C(x)is measured in units of thousands of dollars.
a) What is the total cost to bake and sell 20 batches of yummy Hostess Twinkies?
b) Which is the average cost for 20 batches of Twinkies?
c) If the total cost incurred is $575,000, how many batches of Hostess Twinkies were produced?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! In this equation C=$$ and x=Number of cookies baked
C(x)= 10x + 25
a. Put in 20 for the x value:
C(20)=10(20)+25 = 200+25=225 units of thousand of dollars or $225,000
B. The average cost will be Total cost/number of batches:
$225/20 = $11.25 per batch
C. If the total cost incurred is $575,000 or 575 units of thousands of dollars
C(x)=575
575=10x+25
Subtract 25 from both sides:
550=10x
Divide both sides by 10
55=x
So, 55 batches were baked.
