You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two rockets are launched. The first travels at 9000mph. Fifteen minutes later the second is launched at 10,000mph. Find the distance at which both rockets are an equal distance from Earth.
---
1st rocket DATA:
rate = 9000 mph ; time = x hrs ; distance = 9000x miles
----
2nd rocket DATA:
rate = 10,000 mph ; time = x-(1/4) hrs ; distance = 10000(x-(1/4)) miles
----
Equation:
distance = distance
9000x = 10,000x - 2500
---
1000x = 2500
x = 2.5 hrs
----
Distance at that time = 9000*2.5 = 22,500 miles
