Question 539724: My lessson is graphing inequalities in two variables.
The directions say; determine which ordered pairs are part of the solution set for each inequality.
equation: y>3x
ordered pairs; {(1,5) (1,0) (-1,0) (5,1)}

You can put this solution on YOUR website! For this problem, you could easily find the answer without graphing, but other problems could be more complicated, and graphing may be a big help.
To graph for this problem, you could plot your points and the line y=3x. You know that the points on the line have y=3x, and are not solutions to the inequality. However, at any x, a point above the line has a greater y than the y=3x on the line. So all points above the line are solutions.
The two red circles mark points (1,5) and (-1,0), solutions to the inequality. The other two points (black circles) are not solutions.
