You can put this solution on YOUR website! 5 x 10^(-5) = 0.00005 No
5 x 10^(-3) = 0.005 Yes
Look at the power for the ten. If it was positive, you would shift to the right. It is negative, so you would shift to the left. Now, the number tells us how many digits to shift. Since it is three, you would shift three units to the left.
3 shifts left: 5
2 shifts left: 0.5
1 shift left: 0.05
0 shifts left: 0.005
