You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A truck travels 2.9 miles at 20 mph, how fast would another truck have to go to cover the same distance in 60 seconds less time?
--------------
1st truck DATA:
distance= 2.9 miles ; rate=20mph ; time=d/r=2.9/20 = 0.145 hr.
-----------
2nd truck DATA:
distance= 2.9 miles ; rate= x mph ; time= d/r = 2.9/x hr.
-----------
EQUATION:
1st time = 2nd time + (1/60) hr.
0.145 =2.9/x + 1/60
0.145x = 2.9 + (0.01666...)x
0.12834x=2.9
x=22.6 mph (This is the rate for the 2nd truck)
