You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A racetrack measures 10 miles long. If an automobile completes the course in
exactly 4 minutes, what is the average rate of speed in miles per hour?

4 minutes is 4%2F60ths or 1%2F15th of an hour.

So it's 10 miles per 1%2F15th hour.

The word "per" means "over" or "divided by", so

%2810miles%29%2F%28expr%281%2F15%29hour%29 or

10miles÷expr%281%2F15%29hour

Put the word "hour" over 1

10miles÷%28expr%281%2F15%29%2Aexpr%28hour%2F1%29%29

Multiply the fractions:

10miles÷expr%281hour%2F15%29

Invert and multiply:

10miles×expr%2815%2F%22lhour%22%29

150miles%2F%28hour%29
