You can put this solution on YOUR website!
The total trip cost $13.55 but $3.75 was for the first 1/5th mile. Subtract 3.75 from 13.55 and you have the cost for all the additional miles at 0.35 per mile. For that amount divide the rate of $ per mile into the total $ and you will be left with the total miles:
...
13.55 - 3.75 = 9.80, the cost for all the equal costing miles.
...
$9.80/$0.35/mile = 28 miles for the remaining trip.
...
The total trip to the airport is the 1st 1/5th mile + the remaining 28 miles, or:
...
total distance to airport = 28.2 miles
