Question 53718: I dont understand the direction to do the problems. Can you help me?
Directions: Use subsititution to evaluate the algebraic expressions. Show all work.
1. 8n if n=15
2. 12m + 2 if m=4
3. 5n-2 if n=4
I have other problems, but if you can help me by explaining the directions and helping me with the answers, and explaining it. then it will help me in finishing the rest of my homework. Your my only hope. My parents cant help me in algebra. too hard for them. Thanks.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1. 8n if n=15
Substitute 15 in where the n is. Since there is nothing between the 8 and the n it means to multiply.
8(15)=120
-------------------------------------------------
2. 12m+2 if m=4
Substitute 4 in for m, multiply first then add.
12(4)+2
48+2=50
-------------------------------------------------
3. 5n-2 if n=4
Substitute 4 in for n, multiply first then subtract.
5(4)-2
20-2=18
Happy Calculating!!!!
