You can put this solution on YOUR website! D = rt where D is distance, r is rate (speed) and t is time. In this problem D=20ft., t = 1/5 second = .2 second.
20 = .2r (Divide both sides by .2)
100 ft/s = r.
For the second part r is still 100 ft/s, and time is 3 seconds.
D=RT = 100*3 = 300 feet.

SOLUTION:
Step 1: Get to 1.
If a train travels 20 feet in 1/5 second, then how far will it travel in 1 whole second? We mus multiply 20 by 5 to find out:
20 * 5 = 100
Step 2: Extrapolate.
If a train travels 20 feet in 1 second, then it must travel 3 times as far in 3 seconds:
100 * 3 = 300
Answer: 300 feet
