You want to find out how many hours he worked total
First thing to do would be to add both of the fractions together
So your equation would be 2 2/3+4 1/2
Then you would make both of those fractions into improper fractions so that you can add them together
so, to put 2 2/3 into an improper fraction, you would multiply the whole number by the denominator, then add the numerator
So, it would look like this: (3 x 2)+2, equaling 8
So, the equation would now look like this: 8+4 1/2
Then you would do the same thing with 4 1/2 that you did with 2 2/3
So it would be (2 x 4)+1, equaling 9
Then you simply add 8 and 9 together and your answer is 17
