In one hour or 60 minutes the minute hand makes one revolution which in distance is equal to the circumference which is equal to 2π*radius=2π*7=14π.
However, in 20 minutes you only went 20/60 or 1/3 of a revolution in which the tip of the minute hand traveled 1/3 of the circumference=14π/3≈14.66 inches.
Calculations:
Circumference=2πr=2π*7≈43.98
1/3 of circumference=2π*7/3≈14.66 inches
ans: The tip of the minute hand moved ≈ 14.66 inches
