You can put this solution on YOUR website! what does the graph of the following equation look like 10x + 3y = -50?
:
The best way to find this out is to find the slope & y intercept, then graph it:
:
Put it in the form: y = mx + b, where m = the slope and b = y intercept
:
10x + 3y = -50
:
3y = -10x - 50; subtracted 10x from both sides
:
y = (-10/3)x - (50/3); divided both sides by 3
:
Note that in the form y = mx + b, the slope is -10/3 the y intercept is 50/3
:
Note that when the slope is negative the line slope downward to the right
When it is positive it slopes upward to the right.
:
Now graph it using x values of -8 to + 30 will give a decent picture of the line
x | y
-------
-8|+10
-2|-10
0|(-50/3) the y intercept
+4|-30
In a linear equation you really only need two points to graph it
:
Make sense to you now?
