Question 529840: how would i find the real solution to the equation: +x%5E4%2B2x%5E2-1=0 i know I'm suppose to put it in my calculator under the "y=" button and hit graph and find a point where the graph is crossed over the x-int, however i could be wrong.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how would i find the real solution to the equation: +x%5E4%2B2x%5E2-1+=+0
once you see the graph which should look like this
+graph%28+300%2C+200%2C+-6%2C+6%2C+-6%2C+6%2C+x%5E4%2B2x%5E2-1%29+
go to "calc" (2nd+trace)
use the down arrow to select "Zero" enter, it will return to the graph
It says, "left bound" you will see a * which you can move with the left and right arrows.
move to the left so it is above 0 on y axis, hit enter, it will say "right bound"
move the * to the right so it is below 0 on the y axis, hit enter, it will say "guess". Hit enter again
It will give you the x intercept (y=0) which is one solution, x=-.06435, do the same on the other cross over to get the other x intercept, x=+.6435 y=0
:
You can find all real solutions using this.
