I have to solve by factoring. Not sure how to get the answer to these:

(x+3)(x-3) =-5
and
x^2 -8x + 16 = 0

(x+3)(x-3) =-5
FOIL
x^2 - 3x + 3x - 9 = -5
x^2 - 9 + 5 = 0
x^2 - 4 = 0
Recognized this as the difference of square also, factors easily to
(x-2)(x+2) = 0
x = 2
x = -2
:
and
x^2 -8x + 16 = 0
Recognize this as a perfect square
(x-4)(x-4) = 0
x = 4
x = -4
