SOLUTION: I found the x and y intercepts but now i need the slope this is what i did so far... Problem 5x+y=-10 5(0)+y=-10 so y=-10 Then I did this... 5x+y(0)=-1

Question 52897: I found the x and y intercepts but now i need the slope this is what i did so far...
Problem 5x+y=-10
5(0)+y=-10
so y=-10
Then I did this...
5x+y(0)=-10
5x/5=-10/5
so x=-2

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Before doing any substitutions for x or y, solve the equation for y. This is a good tip: always, always, always... solve for y first! So in our equation of 5x%2By=-10 to solve for y, let's subtract 5x from both sides: y=-5x-10. Now you can substitute some values of x to determine your ordered pairs. Using x=0, gives us an ordered pair of (0,-10). Using x=-2, gives us an ordered pair of (-2,0). Just plot these two points and connect with a straight line to get our graph! It looks like this:
