You can put this solution on YOUR website!
What they mean is:
Get y all by itself on one side of the equation
It doesn't really matter which side
---------------------------
You do this by doing the same thing to
both sides of the equation, which leaves
the equation unchanged
----------------------------
+4y+%2B+12+=+-3%282x-4%29+
Subtract 12 from both sides
+4y+=+-3%2A%282x-4%29+-+12+
Now divide both sides by 4
+y+=+%28-3%2F4%29%2A%282x-4%29+-3+
This is OK, but you can finish by
multiplying out
++%28-3%2F4%29%2A%282x-4%29+=+%28-3%2F2%29%2Ax+%2B+3+
Now you have
+y+=+%28-3%2F2%29%2Ax+%2B+3+-3+
+y+=+%28-3%2F2%29%2Ax+
