Question 527986: Two drivers, starting at the same place, begin driving in the opposite directions at the same time. One heads east at 65 kilometers per hour and the other heads west at 85 kilometers per hour. In how many minutes will they be 375 kilometers apart?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Effective Speed = 65 + 85 = 150mph/h
Distance = 375
Time = Distance/speed
Time = 375/150
Time = 2.5
Time = 2 hours and 30 minutes
Time = (2*60)+30
Time =120+30
Time = 150 minutes

In 150 minutes they will be 375 kilometers apart

Check
=====

1st Driver will cover a distance of:
Distance = Speed * time
Distance = 65*2.5 = 162.5 kilometers

2nd Driver Two will cover a distance of:
Distance = Speed * time
Distance = 85*2.5 = 212.5 kilometers

Since both are driving in opposite direction:
Distance between two drivers = Distance Covered by 1st driver + Distance covered by 2nd driver
Distance between two drivers = 162.5+212.5 = 375 km
