Question 527979: Re an visited a pet shop with 15 animals, justbbirds and cats, over the weekend and noticed that the animals had a total of 32 legs. How many birds were there? Answer by Maths68(1474) (Show Source):
Given
Total Animals = 15
Total legs = 32
Every bird has = 2 legs
Every cat has = 4 legs
Birds*legs + cats*legs = total legs
x*2+(15-x)*4=32
2x+60-4x=32
2x-4x=32-60
-2x=-28
-2x/-2=-28/-2
x=14
