and y = sqrt(x-4) + 2

y = - sqrt x -1
Start with the basic √x curve which starts at the origin, go thru (1,1) and slowly increases as x increases. -√x means the curve has reflected around the x-axis. Finally, -√x-1 means the entire curve has dropped vertically on unit.

y = sqrt(x-4) + 2
Again, starting with the basic √x curve, √(x-4) shifts the entire curve 4 units to the right. The final curve, √(x-4)+2 raises the entire curve 2 units vertically.
