Question 525689: For each triangle ABC, show that it is right angled, state which side is the hypotenuese, find the area, and find tan A:
a) A(13,-4) B(7,4) C(3,1)
I have completed thes question and understand it. I am only stuck on the last bit, i dont understand what is meant by find tanA how could I do this?
Thank You

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
show that it is right angled, state which side is the hypotenuese, find the area, and find tan A:
a) A(13,-4) B(7,4) C(3,1)
I have completed thes question and understand it. I am only stuck on the last bit, i dont understand what is meant by find tanA how could I do this?
------
Plot the points and label them.
Connect them so you see the 3 sides of the triangle.
The side opposite angle A is BC.
CA is the hypotenuse if B is the right angle
So, AB is adjacent to angle A.
----
tan(A) = opposite/adjacent = (length of BC)/(length of AB)
