2x - y = -16

I know how to graph, and can find the solution sets, however, I need to figure out the 'formula' (not sure if that's what it's called) but I mean, like, for the problem: x + 2y = 0 the 'formula' is y = -1/2x, and then you can plug any number in for x, and it works. When I try to get the 'formula' for 2x - y = -16 I can only figure out one that will work if x is a positive number, or only work if x is a negative number, but I can't figure out one that will work if x is either negative or positive. Could anyone help me figure out a 'formula' that will work no matter what number you plug in for x?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x - y = -16
Add "y" to both sides to get:
2x=y-16
Add 16 to both sides to get:
2x+16=y
Switch the sides to get:
y=2x+16
