Question 524683: Ramon and Liza found two snails that were trudging along together in the driveway. Having nothing else to do, Liza and Ramon decided to figure out how fast they were moving. They determined that one was crawling at a pace of 15 mm/min and the other at 10 mm/min. At these rates, how long will it take for the snails to be 10 CENTIMETERS apart?
----
rate*time = distance
-----
1st snail: 15mm/min*t min = 15t mm
---
2nd snail: 10mm/min*t min = 10t mm
=======================================
Distance + Distance = 10 cm = 100 mm
----
15t + 10t = 100 mm
25t = 100
t = 4 minutes

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
15-10=5 mm/min they they separate.
10 cm = 100 mm
100/5=20 min
