You can put this solution on YOUR website! A jacket cost $28.00 more than twice the cost of a pair of slacks, if the jacket cost $152.00, how much do the slacks cost.
:
Let s = cost of one pair of slacks
:
Write an equation for exactly what it says
2s + 28 = 152
Subtract 28 from each side
2s = 152 - 28
2s = 124
divide both sides by 2
s = 124/2
s = $62 for each pair of slack
;
:
See if that checks out
2(62) + 28 =
124 + 28 = 152
