When you multiply like terms, you add the exponents, (P is assumed to have an exponent of 1)
%28p%5E%282%2B5%2B1%29%29%2Fp%5E6 = p%5E8%2Fp%5E6
When you divide like terms you, subtract the exponents
p%5E%288-6%29 = p%5E2
