Question 52193: Celestine bought two pieces of cotton rope, one measuring 34 inches and the other 38 inches in length. The price of both was the same, 40 cents per yard. How much did she pay for both pieces? Answer by GreyWolf79(3) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! First add the the lengths of the two pieces together:
34+38=72 in.
You know that a yard is 36 in. and that according to the problem, the cost is 40 cents/yard.
72/36=2 yards
2*40=80 cents
So Celestine paid 80 cents for both pieces.
