SOLUTION: please help me solve {{{(x+3)/2 = 3 }}} (x plus three over two equals three)

                 x + 3
               -------- = 3
                   2

Put the 3 over 1 so everything will be fractions:

                 x + 3     3
               -------- = ---
                   2       1

The LCD of 2 and 1 is 2.  So multiply both sides by
2 over 1:

          2     x + 3      2     3
         --- · -------- = --- · ---
          1       2        1     1


We cancel the 2's on the left and multiply the 
numerators 2·3, getting 6, and denominators 1·1, 
getting 1 on the right:

          1
          2     x + 3      6     
         --- · -------- = --- 
          1       2        1     
                  1

So we can ignore the 1's on the bottome and just have

                  x + 3 = 6      

which you should have no trouble solving.
