You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let +d+ = distance from base
Let +t+ = time of flight from base
given:
+v%5B1%5D+=+480+ km/hr
+v%5B2%5D+=+400+ km/hr
+t%5B2%5D+=+t+%2B+.25+ hrs
-------------------------
Flying away from base:
(1) +d+=+480t+
Flying back to base:
(2) +d+=+400%2A%28+t+%2B+.25+%29+
----------------------------
(2) +d+=+400t+%2B+100+
Substitute (1) into (2)
(2) +480t+=+400t+%2B+100+
(2) +80t+=+100+
(2) +t+=+1.25+
and, since
(1) +d+=+480t+
(1) +d+=+480%2A1.25+
(1) +d+=+600+
It flew 600 km from its base

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
returning time - going time = 1/4 hour
let x be the distance
x/400 - x/480 = 1/4
(480x-400x)/400*480 =1/4
4*80x=400*480
320x=400*480
x=(400*480)/320
x= 600 km
