The profit for the entire stock is
.20%2A20000+=+4000
If the amount invested in the dogwoods is x, the amount invested
in the maples is 20000 - x
4000+=+.25%2Ax+%2B+.17%2A%2820000+-+x%29
4000+=+.25%2Ax+%2B+34000+-+.17%2Ax
.08%2Ax+=+600
x+=+600+%2F+.08
x+=+7500
20000+-+x+=+12500
So, 7,500 was invested in dogwoods and 12,500 was invested in maples
