If the probability of pulling a yellow is 1 in 3, then the probability of not pulling a yellow has to be 2 in 3. There are 16 buttons that are not yellow, so if is the total number of buttons, then




Solve for to get the total number of buttons, then subtract 16 from to get the number of yellow buttons.
