Question 515767: Three is added to twice a number and then the result is divided by 3. The answer is 7. Find the original number. Answer by tracyc0912(40) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! I find, reading this out loud helps set up a problem-
3+2x/3=7
Multiple both sides by 3 to erase the fraction.
3+2x=21
Subtract 3 from both sides
2x=18
Divide both sides by 2
x=9, the original number!
