Add 1.1 to both sides. Add to both sides. Multiply both sides by remembering to reverse the sense of the inequality because you are multiplying by a factor .

By this time you will have an expression that says some number.

Put a little circle on that number on your number line. (You may have to interpolate depending on the precision of your particular number line). Draw a heavy line covering the number line starting at the little circle you drew and extending in the same direction that your inequality symbol points past the end of your number line and put an arrow head on the heavy line. Note: Had you been dealing with a symbol, you would use a solid dot instead of a little circle.
