Smaller Number = x
Larger Number = y
Sum of the numbers is 52
x+y=52................(1)
The smaller and 5 times the larger is 184.
x+5y=184..............(2)
Subtract (1) from (2)
x+5y=184
x+y=52
---------------------
4y=132
4y/4=132/4
y=33
Put the value of y in (1)
x+y=52
x+33=52
x=52-33
x=19
Smaller Number = x = 19
Larger Number = y = 33
