5x - 2y = -5
y - 5x = 3

You can put this solution on YOUR website! To do this by substitution, the first step is to solve for one of the variables in terms of the other. The easiest one to solve for is the y in the second equation. Do this by adding +5x to each side of the equation.
y = 5x + 3
Now, subsitute this into the first equation:
5x - 2y = -5
5x - 2(_____) = -5
5x - 2(5x+3) = -5
5x - 10x - 6 = -5
-5x - 6 = -5
-5x-6+6=-5+6
-5x=1
Substitute back into the equation in which you solved for y:
y=5x+3
y=5(-1/5)+3
y=-1+3= 2
The solution is ( ,2)

You can put this solution on YOUR website! 1st chose an easy equation like: Y-5x=3
and move the -5x to the right side so you get Y=5x+3
then you re-place Y with (5x+3) in the 2nd equation
and you get this 5x-2(5x+3)=-5
5x-10x-6=-5
-5x-6+6=-5+6
-5x=1
x=-1/5
just re-place the x to 5(-1/5)-2y=-5 to get Y
-1-2y=-5
-2y=-4
Y=2
check
5(-1/5)-2(2)=-5
-1-4=-5
-5=-5
