First multiply both sides of the equation by the LCD, which is 12y:

Divide out ALL the denominators:
84+-+4y+=+3y+

Add 4y to each side:
84+-+4y+%2B4y++=+3y+%2B+4y
84+=+7y+

Divide both sides by 7:
12+=+y

Check: Substitute y= 12 in the origianl equation.
