Question 51229: I have severe math issues here are the questions i need help with
the question says:
solve by graphing(on my ti-83 plus calculator) then check.
A) x+y=5
3x+y=3
b)x-y=2
3x=y=14
c)2x+8y=8
-2x+y=10
show me how to do it please!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! I will help explain to you how to do problem A, and then you should understand the rest. I will explain it to you as if you are graphing it by hand though.
A) First, you have to convert the equations to slope-intercept form(y = mx + b)
So, x + y =5 would become y=-x +5, because you are just moving the x to the other side of the equation. 3x + y = 3 would then be y= -3x +3.
Then, you take the first new equation, y=-x+5. you can use the last number in this equation, which is called the y-intercept, which is 5 for this equation, and you graph this at point (0,5).
From there, you can use the number before the x in the equation, which is called the slope. In this equation, y=-x +5, the slope is -1. that means that from that point you just graphed that you will go down 1 square and over 1 square to the right, then mark the point, and continue doing this as you feel needed. you will then have enough points to connect them and draw the line.
You can then do this same process and draw the line for the other equation in the problem, and the point where these two lines meet will be your solution.
