THE DIAGONAL OF A RECTANGLE FORMS A RIGHT TRIANGLE THUS WE HAVE A WAY TO FIND THE DIAGONAL OR THE HYPOTENUSE (LONG SIDE) OF THE TRIANGLE.
IT'S CALLED THE PYTHAGORIAN THEROM A^2+B^2=C^2. WE HAVE THE A & B VALUES
(30 & 40) NOW WE SOLVE FOR C THE LONG SIDE. 30^2+40^2=C^2 OR 900+1600=C^2 OR
C^2=2500 OR C=SQRT2500 OR C=50 INCHES FOR THE DIAGONAL.
