You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve by graphing:
y = 2x
y = -2x-8
:
You can solve for the ordered pair, in the 2nd equation replace y with 2x
2x = -2x - 8
add 2x to both sides
2x + 2x = -8
4x = -8
x = %28-8%29%2F4
x = -2
:
y = 2x
therefore
y = 2*-2
y = -4
:
The ordered pair: -2, -4
:
:
Solve by graphing
1st equation
y = 2x
find y when x=1, and x=-3
x | y
-------
1 | 2
-3 |-6
red graph
2nd equation
y = -2x - 8
find y when x = 1 and x=
x| y
------
1 | -10; y = -2(1) - 8
-3| -2; y = -2(-3) = 9; which is y = +6 - 8
