Question 51096:  the home work looks like this but i dont know how to do it at all the teacher explained it but i still dont get it. the questions are like... pr=xp    i dont know how to do them..and some of them have numbers..how do you do both times

pr=xp [To solve for any of the variables, p, x, or r divide]
 
For example to solve for r, divide both sides by p 
pr=xp  
pr/p=xp/p 
r=x [The p's cancel out] 
. 
Another example, to solve for x, in this case, also divide both sides by p: 
pr=xp 
pr/p=xp/p [cancel out] 
r=x 
. 
Treat the variables the same as you would treat numbers.   
To check your answers, plug the value of x (or r) back into the original equation.
