SOLUTION: Find the equation of each line. Write each answer in slope-intercept form.
The line through (1,4) with slope 1/4
This is what I came up with.
y- 1 = 1/4 {x - 4}
y - 1 = 1

Question 5097: Find the equation of each line. Write each answer in slope-intercept form.
The line through (1,4) with slope 1/4
This is what I came up with.
y- 1 = 1/4 {x - 4}
y - 1 = 1/4x - 1
Answer is : y = 1/4 x + 1
I'm not sure if this is correct or not. I am so struggling with algebra. Thanks to all who help. I greatly appreciate it. Found 2 solutions by rapaljer, lotanez:Answer by rapaljer(4671) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Find the equation of each line. Write each answer in slope-intercept form.
The line through (1,4) with slope 1/4
This is what I came up with.
y- 1 = 1/4 {x - 4}
The last line is the error! The value of the point is x=1 and y=4. You got them backwards. Should be:
You can put this solution on YOUR website! slope intercept form: y= mx + b
m= slope
b= the point where the line intercepts with the y-axis (the y value)
The line is going through or "intercepts" the y-axis at points (1,4).
The given slope is 1/4.
Just fill in what we know into the equation:
m(slope)=1/4
b(intercept point on the y-axis)=4 :we get this from the given points (1,4)
y=1/4x + 4
Hope this helps.
Don't get frustrated, the algebra will all come together. Its like a foregin language and you will get it, just keep practicing.
On this website, the teacher explains it very well.
