Let x be the larger number. Let y be the smaller number
x = 2y
y + 4 = x - 6
Sub 2y in for x.
y + 4 = 2y - 6
y = 10
Sub y =10 back into either original equation
x = 2*10
x = 20

So the numbers are 10 and 20.
