You can put this solution on YOUR website! Use Equation
D = Distance
R = Rate at which you are moving
T = Time spent moving
This is called the distance formula. You can use this for almost anything involving. How long, How Fast, and How Far Away.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let's assign all of these values variables.
Let's call how many miles away - m
Let's call how many mph - s (For speed)
Let's call how many hours - h
Then m/h = s
If we are trying to solve for h, then let's do a little manipulation.
Multiply both sides by h.
h*(m/h) = s*h
m = s* h
m/s = h
This means if we divide the miles by the miles per hour, then we will get how many hours it will take to get somewhere.
Example problem:
You are travelling 40mph and you are 240 miles away, how long will it take to get there?
If we are 240 miles away and every hour we advance 40 miles, then we are (240/40) or 6 hours from reaching our destination.
